Chicken 65 origin:
chicken 65 is one of the classic dishes of South Indian cuisine. It originated from Chennai and was introduced in 1965 at the famous Buhari restaurant. Buhari restaurant says the item was named as it was made in 1965,and this is accepted worlwide.

But there is other version also. Another much-talked about tale is that it was the 65th item on the soldiers’ menu list ,therefore it is refereed as chicken 65. whatever the tales says one thing is sure that it is one of the best recipe introduced in India.

Ingredients FOR CHICKEN 65:
  • 250 grams chicken thigh (boneless)
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 pinch turmeric
  • 1 tsp yoghut
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 red chillies (whole)
  • 6 black peppercorns
  • 1 pinch fennel seeds
  • 1 pinch cumin seeds
  • 5 pcs cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp egg white
  • 2 tsp maida/corn flour powder
  • 1 pinch curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 500 ml oil for deep frying

how to cook best chicken 65:
  • Take the boneless chicken and marinate it with ginger garlic paste, yoghurt, salt and lemon juice. Mix and keep aside for like an hour or can be kept in refrigerator on low volume
  •  Mix the chillies, turmeric, black peppercorns, fennel seeds, cinnamon sticks and cumin seeds. Mix this with the marinated chicken.Add curry leaves, egg white, maida/cornflour powder and mix well.
  •  Heat the oil in a frying pan till it get very hot
  • drip the marinated chicken into the oil and fry the chicken for about 5 - 7 minutes or until it gets golden brown.
  • Now serve with a chilli or tomato sauce as per your desire
